What Does The Woman Who Need Nothing Actually Want?

March 2, 2026by Buholistikin Higher Love

“Wow, you’re so free. I don’t think anyone could ever stop you.”

He said it in awe, like a compliment. Maybe he even believed it was. But the moment those words left his mouth, I felt the door close. Not because he was wrong; he wasn’t. But because of what his words actually revealed.

Not about me.

About him.

There’s an assumption that goes around about women like her: the untamed one, the one who built her life on her own terms, the one with fire in her eyes and no apologies on her tongue.

The assumption is that: She doesn’t want commitment. She’s too wild. Too intense. Too much. She’ll never settle.

And I get it. I understand why they’d think that.

I mean… she’s not waiting around. She’s not performing availability. She’s not shrinking herself to fit into someone else’s life. She is freedom personified… and freedom, to most people, looks like the opposite of partnership.

But deep inside her there is this desire to settle.

Not as in compromising who she is. Not as in finally giving up and accepting less. But settle as in landing. Rooting into something with someone. Building empires together.

But the interesting part is that The only man she’ll ever choose is the one who doesn’t see her freedom as a threat but rather as an invitation.

The one who looks at her life—her wildness, her intensity, her magic—and gets inspired by it... AND contributes to expand it.

They see the freedom. The travel. The unconventional lifestyle.

What they don’t see is what it cost her to become this.

She was caged once. By expectations. By relationships that asked her to shrink. By a life that looked fine on the outside but was suffocating her slowly from within.

I know because I was her.

Seven years ago, I walked away from a 15-year relationship.

I had everything I was supposed to want. The house. The security. The partner who provided. The family. The life that looked right. The kind of life that makes people say, “You’re so lucky.”

Yet I was slowly dying inside. Day by day. Becoming less of myself and calling it compromise. Calling it love.

I remember the guilt. God, the guilt.

What is wrong with me? How dare I be unhappy? How dare I want more when I have it all? What kind of ungrateful person walks away from a perfectly good and comfortable life because of some invisible ache she can’t even name?

It took me years of self-negotiation. Talking myself out of it. Convincing myself I was being dramatic, selfish, unrealistic.

Until one day, I couldn’t anymore.

And I walked away.

Not recklessly but Intentionally. Consciously.

It was the biggest act of self love I had ever done until then.

I followed my inner compass even when it made no sense to anyone else. Even when everyone thought I was crazy. Even when I had no proof that the life I was yearning for even existed.

I just knew I couldn’t keep betraying myself.

This kind of woman doesn’t stumble into freedom.

She alchemizes it.

She learns to hear her own voice again. To trust it. To follow it even when it leads her into the unknown.

She builds a life that supports her freedom. Her income. Her time. Her location. Her choices. All of it by design. Not by accident but by decision.

From the cage she once lived in, she builds a life with no walls.

So when a man looks at her and says “You’re so free—no one could ever stop you”, she hears something completely different.

She hears: I could never do what you did.

She hears: Your freedom intimidates me.

She hears: I want you to come live in my boring, controlled and predictable world and brighten it up because I’m too afraid to step into yours.

Here’s what I wish more people understood:

She doesn’t need anyone.

Her life works. Her finances work. Her freedom works. She has built a container that holds her fully without requiring anyone else to complete it.

But not needing is not the same as not wanting.

She has so much to give. So much depth, presence, love, fire. And she wants to give it to someone who can not only receive it but reciprocate it and join forces to expand it. Someone who has done his own work. Built his own freedom. Faced his own fears.

Someone who doesn’t look at her wholeness and feel threatened by it.

The woman who needs nothing still wants something.

She wants to be met.

Not admired from a distance. Not put on a pedestal. Not treated like she’s “too much” to hold.

Met.

By someone who has walked through his own fire. Someone who knows what it costs to choose freedom over comfort, truth over security, aliveness over the slow death of self-betrayal.

She wants a partner, not a project.

Someone who runs beside her—not behind her, not trying to catch up, not asking her to slow down.

She wants the kind of love that doesn’t require her to shrink.

So she keeps building. She keeps living. She keeps becoming.

Not waiting. Not performing. Not holding her breath for someone to finally be brave enough.

Just fully, unapologetically, irreversibly her.

And when love comes (real love, the kind that doesn’t ask her to shrink) she’ll recognize it. Because it will feel nothing like settling.

It will feel like finally being seen by someone who also knows what it costs to become free.

Until then, the fire stays lit.

Not for anyone else.

For herself.
